I was at an exercise class when the subject of lawn bowls was raised and one of the participants advised that he played competition bowls.  I said I would like to play social bowls and he suggested that I should join the Unley Park Bowling Club at 8 Northgate Street, Unley Park which he said is renowned to be a very sociable club.

I went along to the Unley Park Bowling Club and met a group of casual bowlers who bowl for 1½ - 2 hours at 1pm on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.  I received a very warm welcome and I enjoy the friendly participation, playing with different members of the Club each time we meet.  Often we stay after our game of bowls for a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits.

As well as the 1pm sessions the Club also run Night Owls on Wednesday evenings during daylight saving where the members play in groups of 3.

I would recommend the Unley Park Bowling Club to anyone who would like a regular and sociable activity.

I have been a member of the Unley Park Sports Club for over 40 years, playing tennis until about 5 years ago. Due to an injury I joined the Bowling Club and was immediately made very welcome. I play as often as possible, this being on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Bowls is followed by a very convivial cup of tea or coffee when members have a really good chat.

The Club is celebrating its centenary this year and I strongly recommend it to potential bowlers, both men and ladies.
